Dr. Giavana Jones, Alumni Achievement Award in Psychology
Lightheartedly referring to her life as weighing 400 pounds, Dr. Gia wears many hats. In her professional life, she holds responsibility for four programs as Programme Director at a nonprofit organization. Additionally, she lectures at the University of The Bahamas; and offers private counseling. As an avid volunteer and community builder, Dr. Gia coordinates a community group, serves as the Pastor of Health at Epic Church Bahamas; and is cofounder of a nonprofit with a mission of mental health help and wellness.

Dr. Gia completed and MA and Ph.D in Applied Social Psychology from University of Windsor, Canada. Her dissertation focused on hope and resilience in Bahamian youth. She also obtained an MSc in Mental Health Counselling and a BA in Psychology.

Her personal motto is to foster hope and build communities. Providing resources such as The Strong One and Living Loved are ways to support more people on their journey to healing and wholeness.

Dr. Gia was born and raised in Nassau, The Bahamas, where she currently resides. She married her college sweetheart, Dayton and together they have two beautiful children, Daelyn Grace, age 5 and Davyn Giovanni, age 2.
